Job Summary:
The IT Data Analyst should be highly skilled in all aspects of data analytics, including mining, generation and visualization; and is responsible for transforming data into readable, goal-driven reports for continued business innovation and growth. The IT Data Analyst’s primary functions are to turn data into information, information into insight, and insight into business decisions. Other Data Analyst responsibilities include conducting full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design. New Benefits’ Data Analysts will also develop analysis and reporting capabilities as well as monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Proactively analyze data to answer key questions from stakeholders or out of self-initiated curiosity with an eye for what drives business performance, investigating and communicating areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity
- Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
- Interacts with the IT team to understand how information is stored, modeled, and tagged
- Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
- Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
- Train end-users on new reports and dashboards
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst
- Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strategic Thinking – The ability to analyze the organization’s competitive position by considering market and industry trends, existing and potential customers, and strengths and weaknesses as compared to competitors.
- Diagnostic Information Gathering – The ability to identify the information needed to clarify a situation, seek that information from appropriate sources, and use skillful questioning to draw out the information, when others are reluctant to disclose it.
- Forward Thinking – The ability to anticipate the implications and consequences of situations and take appropriate action to be prepared for possible contingencies.
- Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
- Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with focus on outcomes
- Knowledge of Python, R, AI, and machine learning is a plus
- Knowledge of MS PowerBI, Kibana, and Elasticsearch is a plus
- BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
- High-level written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours, and function in an environment with interruptions

- Good visual acuity
- Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds
Preferred:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or technology related field preferred
